Does Becoming A Christian
Mean I Can’t Ever Mess Up?

The Reality Is,
No Matter How Good Your Intentions,
You’re Going To Be Tempted To Sin.
Thankfully, It’s Not A Lost Cause!

Imagine,
after a tragic series of deaths
among grade school children,
that your community decides to enact
a law prohibiting
the sale of any potentially toxic glue products.
A crowd rallies together
and raids the store that has been selling the glue
to kids.
All banned glue products are confiscated.
The store owner is outraged.

Parents, however, are excited . . .
until the very next morning
when a delivery truck lumbers into town
bringing more glue!
The parents schedule another rally
and raid the store all over again;
but this time, only half the people participate.
Again, the delivery truck returns.

The parents are discouraged and ready to quit
all except for one.
He knows where the delivery truck comes from,
so he goes straight to the distribution center
and ensures that the truck won’t come back.

In a Sense,
That Is What Jesus Christ’s Death Accomplishes
in Relation to sin.
Instead of Attacking Every One
of Our Sins Individually
and Trying To Get Rid Of Them,
God Goes right To The Source
` Of Sin’s Power and Destroys It.
The Sinful Nature We Are Born With
Doesn’t just Disappear When We Trust Jesus Christ,
But The Control That Sin Has Over Our Lives Is Broken.
Trusting Christ and Placing Him In Control
Suggests New Ownership.

In The Book Of Romans,
Paul Asks,
”Shall We Go On Sinning So That Grace May Increase?”
He Answers Himself,
“By No Means!
We Died To Sin; How Can We Live In It Any Longer?”
(Romans 6:1-2).
When We Allow Our old Nature
To Seize Control Of Our Lives Instead Of Christ,
That’s When the Trouble Starts.

So We Must Be Aware That We Will Sin.

When We Mess Up,
Here are Some Things To Remember.

- - Recognize the Sin In your Life.
Don’t Call It by Another Name, Excuse It or Blame Others.
Don’t Compare Your Actions With those of Others.
Make Sure You Confess your sin.
(See Psalm 32:1-5)
(Psalm 51) (John 1:9)

- - Examine The Elements That Led To your Sin
(See Lamentations 3:40)
(2 Corinthians 13:5)

- - What Did You Do, and What Did You Fail To Do?

- - Get Back on Schedule.
Even When You Sin,
God Is Ready to Forgive and Cleanse You.

We Find Victory in Christ
When We Create the Proper Atmosphere
For God to Enact Change In our Lives.
Meditate On these Questions
and See If They Are True In Your Life.
Remember that These Questions
are Simply Signposts
To A Healthy Christian Life
and Not The Only Indications of Your Growth.

1. Do You Spend Time each Day in God’s Word?

2. Are You Consistently Involved
In a Ministry within your Local Church?

3. Are You Developing Godly Friendships?

4. Are You Accountable To Someone Else?

5. Do You Have a Plan for Scripture Memorization?

6. Have You Formed Biblical Goals For your Life?

NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR,
THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.
(Hebrews 11:1)

So Faith Cometh By Hearing,
And Hearing By The Word Of God.
(Romans 10:17)
