How Do I Pray?

Here is a Brief Description
of the kind of Prayer that is on fire
- Prayer that God Delights to Answer.

We must Believe that God is
Able and Willing to Answer our Prayers.
Hebrews 11:16 says,
“Without Faith it is Impossible to Please God,
because anyone who Comes to Him
must Believe that He Exists
and that He Rewards Those who Earnestly Seek Him.”

We must Ask,
God Longs to pour out His Blessings
if only we will Ask for them.
“You do not have,
because you do not Ask God” (James 4:2).
Rather than beating around the bush
and trying to twist God’s arm with detailed petitions,
we must drop the flowery words,
and Focus on God,
the Person to whom we are Talking.

We must Confess sin.
The Psalmist Wrote,
”If I had Cherished sin in my Heart,
the Lord Would Not have Listened” ( Psalm 66:18).
Unconfessed sin Douses the Flames of Prayer.

How do we begin to Pray?
What do we say?
Prayer is simple Conversation between God and us.
God Speaks to us through His Word,
so Reading the Bible lets us know what God Wants to Say to us.
The Holy Spirit,
who Lives Within each Christian,
Guides us in how and for whom to Pray
(see Romans 8:26-27).
Take time to Wait for the Lord
to Bring Prayer Topics to mind.
One helpful way to Pray follows this:
Adoration, Confession, Petition,
Intercession and Thanksgiving.

Praylessness Becomes an open Invitation to the devil.

Praylessness is a Declaration of Self-Sufficiency.

Prayer is Conversation with God,
we can Talk to God just like we Talk to our Friends.

The Bible is very clear
that when we call out to the Lord,
He Listens.
Hebrews 4:16 says,
“Let us then approach the Throne of Grace
with Confidence,
so that we may Receive Mercy and find Grace
to help us in our time of need.”
God Desires us to call out to Him in our time of need.
The issue is not how many words we use,
but that we share our hearts.
This can take place many times a day!
Talking to God should be as natural
as talking to a friend.
Just as we enjoy talking to our close friends
as often as possible,
we can talk with the Lord on a very Regular Basis.
He is Never Too Busy for us!

The Lord’s Prayer is a Structure or Pattern
on how we should Pray.

Study the following Bible Passages on Prayer:
Matthew 7:7 – 11 18:19-20
John 16:24
Romans 8:26-27
Ephesians 6:18-20
Philippians 4:6
Colossians 4:2-4
James 5:16-18

Simply and Specifically tell the Lord Your Request.
Thank the Lord
that He is going to Answer your Prayer
and Praise God for it.

 Give Ear To My Prayer

Psalm 55:1

Give Ear To My Prayer,
O God;
And Hide Not Thyself From My Supplication.

When Ye Pray . . . Use Not Repetitions

But when ye Pray,
use Not vain Repetitions,
as the heathen do;
for they think that they shall be heard
for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them:
for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of,
before ye Ask Him.
(Mat. 6: 7-8 )

Prayer is central to a Believer’s Life.
But Jesus Said
we should avoid meaningless repetitive Prayers.
Jesus Himself Prayed at length
( LK 6:12)
and also repeated Himself in Prayer
(Mt. 26:44)
but it was not meaningless Prayer.

In Mark 11:24
you will find the Prayer of Faith:
Therefore I Say Unto You,
what things soever ye desire,
when ye Pray,
believe that ye Receive them,
and ye shall Have them.

NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR,
THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.
(Hebrews 11:1)

So Faith Cometh By Hearing,
And Hearing By The Word Of God.
(Romans 10:17)
