~ Father's Day ~

The Father Who Loves You

Picture a two year old little girl
who wakes up very early in the morning
and as her father was about to leave the house for work,
the little girl woke up
and toddled into the room.
Standing in front of her father,
the sleepy eyed child raised her arms as a sign
that she wanted to be held.
The father picked her up and cradled her tenderly.
Secure in his strong arms,
she soon fell asleep again.
In a small way,
this scene reminds us of the heart of
our Father God
and the place of love and security
we have in his arms.

When we are born into God’s Kingdom
through faith in Jesus Christ,
we become part of His family.
All the joys and privileges of intimate relationship
with our heavenly Father are ours.
This is why (Romans 8:15-16) says that we have
“received the Spirit of son ship, and by Him we cry
‘Abba Father’.
The Spirit Himself
testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”

For some of us,
this kind of loving parental relationship
may be hard to accept.
Some have never known what it is like to have
a loving father or perhaps to have a parent at all.
Our past hurts and disappointments may make it
difficult to believe that God will prove
any more reliable than what we know
from the past relationships.
But God is not like any human father.
He is completely loving and trustworthy.
He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
As His children, we are guaranteed His acceptance,
affirmation, encouragement, commitment,
counsel, care, friendship, protection and provision.

Sadly, many believers never fully take
advantage of their son ship.
Their distorted perspective of fatherhood creates distrust
and keeps them from communicating with God.
That’s certainly not the Father’s intention.
He wants an open, intimate relationship with us
that begins through childlike simplicity.
Just as we did not enter our earthly families as adults,
neither do we enter God’s family as adults.
Each of us needs to experience the joy
of being God’s child before we can learn to walk
and work with Him.

It is as we pursue Him in childlike trust
that we discover how much
He loves and values each one of us.
The Bible confirms these truths about God:

· He created us as individuals
– each a unique expression of Himself.

· He redeemed us individually so
that each of us could become His very own child.

· He loves us and is completely committed to us.

· He wants to father us
– to be our provider, protector, comforter, teacher,
deliverer, encourager, corrector and counselor.

· He wants to have a deep,
personal relationship with us as our friend.

God the Father paid a great price
to bring us back into relationship with Him.
Humanity’s selfish choices allowed sin
and death to enter God’s perfect world
and caused a break in relationship.
So God sent His beloved Son Jesus
to pay the full penalty for those sins – a penalty of death.
Through His sacrificial death on the cross
and his resurrection,
the power of sin and death has been forever broken.
This gift from Jesus,
“the firstborn among many brothers” (Romans 8:29)
opened the way for us
to have a fully restored relationship with the Father.

His arms are eager to embrace us.
We only have to reach out to welcome Him.

 Father's Day

There are several ways
on how the Lord “Fathers” us throughout the Bible:

1. He is always faithful to us – (Det.7:9)
Faithful to all generations.

2. He protects us (Joshua 24:17)
Our great protector.

3. He understands us (1Chron. 28:9-10)
He knows our hearts.

4. He has a plan for us (Psalm 40:5)
Each a unique creation.

5. He disciplines us (Prov.3:11-12)
Discipline equals love.

6. He cares for us in practical ways (Isaiah 41:13-14)
Our constant helper.

7. He pursues us ( Jer. 31:3)
Wooing all prodigal children.

8. He comforts us ( Isaiah 66:10-13)
His arms around us.

9. He forgives us ( Micah 7:18-19)
Forgiven for all time.

10. He is eternally patient with us (2Peter 3:9)
Patience with a purpose.

11. He withholds His anger from us (Exodus 34:5-7)
The Father’s true nature.

12. He comforts children of sinful parents (Ezek.18:14)
Setting the record straight.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
to all the fathers present here
and May God pour His blessings out on you daily.

GOD BLESS!

NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR,
THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.
(Hebrews 11:1)

So Faith Cometh By Hearing,
And Hearing By The Word Of God.
(Romans 10:17)
